Frequently Asked Questions

Question 1: Where do I start?

Whether you bought Optin Quiz Generator Pro or just taken the FREE version the steps to approach will be the same.

  • Step 1: Read the e-books that come in the package. Will teach you things you never ever knew about list building, various opt-in techniques and more importantly how to use quizzes and survey as an involvement device. This should lay down the foundation.

  • The information in the package is well structured as you got the e-books, mindmaps and PowerPoint presentation for each of them. That should make it easy to use. Just read the e-books, watch the Powerpoint and then print the MindMaps in A3 format. The mindmaps are a one page snapshot of everything the e-book contain.

  • Step 2: Before jumping into creating and installing quizzes think and design what your quiz or survey will be used for. In the e-books I talk about how to use the quiz and survey as a market research tool, as a dynamic selling device as well as a tool to create connection with your visitors.

  • Step 3: I suggest at this step use a normal text editor like MS Word or Notepad.  And literally write the content for the following items:
    • Write the quiz or survey questions/answers/interpretations
    • Decide what your TYO page will look like,
    • What confirmation page will you sent the visitors to,
    • How will the Viral Friend Generator Page look like (if you use one),
    • What is your gift page an URL, or a simple page (if you use one),
    • What will be your message on the tweet-my-quiz page
  • Step 4: Now its time to install Optin Quiz Generator. Use the information from this site to help you do that. Click on the link: How To Use This Website that will give you and overview of everything found on this site as well as clarify any term you have encountered so far that you did not understand.

  • Step 5: Test your quiz. Before drawing visitors to your quiz or survey take several tests to ensure the layout is exactly as you intended the email message is well formatted and specially that all the links work! If at this stage you encounter any problem Contact Us

Question 3: How to create a quiz/survey in five steps?

In the sell copy of the pro version I presented a scenario on how to create a quiz in five steps. Here are once more the steps:

  • Step 1: Quiz Headline and Sub-headline

  • Step 2: Quiz Questions

  • Step 3: Auto responder setup

  • Step 4: Quiz Analysis Email

  • Step 5: Quiz Analysis Options

The exhaustive list of actions for each of the steps is best described on the corresponding pages of this tutorial.  As you can see Optin Quiz Generator is very features reach and allows you to configure much, much more then what was advertised in the sell copy.

[Back to the List of Questions]

Question 4: Why is there NO expiration date on the FREE version?

There is NO expiration date on FREE version because I made it so ;).

[Back to the List of Questions]

Question 5: Why can I create many quizzes per install and only one active?

The idea of creating many quizzes was necessary as you can use the quiz/surveys created as an involvement device.  It is only possible to have one active at a time due to the restriction that autoresponders have to redirect the optin visitor to the same page always.  It is something we have no control over.

[Back to the List of Questions]

Question 6: What does it mean when I get this alert box: "Quiz cannot be saved!" ?

Precisely this box:

Page Title

That says the information shown there is missing.  Just put all the necessary information in the right place and then you can save the quiz.  Following all the steps from the page Configure OQG Core Elements will ensure that.

This window is a legacy of an old version in the new version 2.0, will will not this window but actually the script got smarter and will tell you if you forgot anything also where that is in the dashboard.

I still leave this image here for people using older versions.

Question 7: Why am I told "Answer's type error" ?

You see this message for the reason that you chose within the same question, answer which are of different type but cannot be put together.

  1. If you selected from the type of answers "Tex Box only" that means there can be no other answer for that question. If you want to chose both Text Box and Radio Button, then select Text and Radio Button.

  2. If you selected Drop down type of answer all the answers for that question must have be type Drop down.

Question 8: Why does it display "No active quiz." message when I go to the landing page?

You get this message because none of the quizzes in the dash board is active, or you did not create one.  Just follow the steps from this tutorial and in a matter of minutes you are good do go.

[Back to the List of Questions]

Question 9: What is the difference between the menu' section "Start Using OQG" and "Examples of Using OQG" of this help site?

The menu “Start Using OQG” has been created as to split down the components of the quiz into parts.  If you are interested to know only how one part works then look to one of the links there.

The menu “Examples of Using the Quiz” has been thought to present a complete setting of all the options if you would choose any of the flows of the Optin Quiz Generator.  The examples can be used top to bottom to create really a carbon copy of the quiz exactly as shown there

To clarify further the section “OQG Admin Dashboard User Manual” also contains information about the quiz dashboard but it only describes what each functionally does without creating the context on where/when/how that functionally to be used.

[Back to the List of Questions]

Question 10: Why didn't I get any reply from you, I already created three tickets?

All the tickets that arrive in the system are treated as first come first served and we always send a reply.  The main reason why people experience such difficulties is due to the unreliability of mail delivery system.  Our reply may have been long deleted in your SPAM/JUNK folder.

To ensure that never happens read here how with one move you can arrange everything: White List Optin Quiz Generator.

Important: We highly suggest you do the steps from this link White List Optin Quiz Generator to ensure our messages reach you, always!

Question 11: Where can I find the templates used in your demo videos?

The templates used to just copy paste in the demo are offered as swipe file when buying the pro version.  Creating such pages is very easy in Optin Quiz Generator dashboard using the build in WYSWYG html editor (it really is like using Ms Word).

[Back to the List of Questions]

Question 12: How do I integrate the quiz with my own website template look and feel?

In the quiz application there is a folder [quiz_folder]/web/images/themes/custom. There you can place the pictures and the CSS files of your site theme. And then from the Step 1.1 Quiz Skin you chose Custom.

You need to adjust your CSS files for the quiz to fit well! That means just putting your files there will not be sufficient. You may need to know some basic CSS to align the page.

Question 13: How do I proceed with a refund?

To get a refund is very simple. When you order you will have received an email that has the subject line

Receipt for your Payment (Ref# YOUR_REF_NUMBER)

In there there is a link called LINK NAME when you click on it you will get to a page that looks like:

Page Title

Just click on the Request refund button. I will be notified and approve your request. For your comfort is important to know that even if I do not approve it, PLIMUS.com the payment processor I use can always override my decision and you can be sure to get your money back.

Obviously it is not my intention to sell a product that you are not happy with. So I will refund your money with no question asked. If you don't mind I always welcome feedback and you can give me your input but there is no obligation.

Another way to get your money back is simply send an email to support@optinquizgenerator.com with your order number and I will process it immediately.

Question 14: How do I un-subscribe from your email list?

IMPORTANT! When you receive emails from you can always unsubscribe, but the button SPAM is not how to do it.

I realize that a great majority of people think that when they don't want to receive email from somebody pushing SPAM is the way to do it.

When you mark my emails as SPAM really gets me into trouble.

So at the bottom of each email you receive for me there is a link that looks like in the image below.

Page Title

When you click on that link you will be taken to a page that will ask you to unsubscribe from my email lists.

IMPORTANT! Some people say, Valentin I unsubscribe from your list but I still get emails from you. That is very possible and here is way.

The reason being that you are subscribe to several lists, by acting on several promotions which might have been at one time interesting for you.

I suggest that when you want to unsubscribe when you get on the unsubscribe screen you decide if you want to remove your email from all the lists (which will ensure 100%) you get no further emails from me.

If you still want to be on certain of my lists then on the unsubscribe page just choose the list you want to remove your email from. On that page each list as a description and you can easily see from which one you want to be out.

Question 16: How do I avoid losing data when I upgrade to the latest version of the software?

This is valid for both FREE and PRO. You can persevere your data and all the settings of your previous quizzes or survey even when you do a complete upgrade of the whole application.

When will such upgrade be necessary?

  1. If your application has been compromised from various reasons. Though in case the data in the db is corrupted you cannot recover the quizzes, but if it is only the application you will recover.

  2. If you upgrade from the FREE to the PRO version.

  3. If you upgrade from an older version to a latest version, either for FREE or for the PRO.

Here is what you need to do to still re-use your data:

Step 1: Download on your PC the latest version and unzip the file.

Step 2: Go to the folder where you unzipped and in [quiz_folder]/app/config you find a file database.php and delete that file.

Step 3: Upload the new quiz over the old version on your hosting account, using a FTP program like: File Zilla or Smart FTP

That's it.

[Back to the List of Questions]

Question 17: How do I solve the Redirect Loop message, or empty page after the installation?

The redirect loop message (or empty page) is something we know it appears but we cannot avoid it beforehand.

Each hosting account have their own unique ways of handling CodeIgniter ( the framework we used to develop the script). The relative location of your quiz page is detected based on the input in a file. We put on Auto, as that is for most of the servers, but if you either see a white empty page or Redirect Loop message, read on ...

Here is how to solve it.

Go to your quiz_folder/app/config/config.php. There you will see a section:

Page Title

And now the game begins...

Step 1: Changing the values for $config['uri_protocol'] = "AUTO"; to the next value in the list PATH_INFO, so the line will look like: $config['uri_protocol'] = "PATH_INFO";

Step 2: Upload the config.php file to your server at the same location: quiz_folder/app/config

Step 3: Go to your web browser (Internet Explorer, FireFox, etc) put the http address of your quiz and refresh the page.

If the redirect loop is still there, go to Step 1 above and change the value to the next one from the list being: either QUERY_STRING, REQUEST_URI or ORIG_PATH_INFO until one works.

If after you tried all and you still the white screen here is what you need to do:

You have a .htaccess file on your server, depending on your hosting account it is in the public_html or www folder. That file may prevent the quiz folder to be reached. So you need to find your .htaccess file and ensure it does allows for the quiz folder to be accessed. Just add this line of code to your file:

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} "/quiz/"

I know is very annoying but it is something we can do nothing about. We can neither detect it nor avoid this. These are unique settings that your hosting company has put in place and we cannot know them beforehand.

Question 18: How do I solve the 500 Internal Server Error message?

Difficult to say, without looking at the logs. The best is to contact us.

[Back to the List of Questions]

Question 19: What do I do when I see "We're sorry, an internal error message occurred."?

If it appears only once it could be that you tried to use the quiz while at the same time you had the admin dashboard open on the same PC in the same browsers.

If you see this error occurring while using just using the quiz, and specially if you see it more than once contact us and we have a look at it.

[Back to the List of Questions]

Question 20: I installed the quiz but no email with the analysis is being sent. What do I do?

This as question 17 is something you need to play with the configuration files.

As of version 2.1 of Optin Quiz Generator we introduced a function to help you identify your email server. See what email server do I have?

In the quiz package there is folder lib/libraries and a file email.php. Open that email and you will see a section:

Page Title

So you will need to figure out which mail service your hosting provider uses. You can check that in your panel account or call the hosting provider to tell you all the details. Then change the line

var $protocol = "mail"; // mail/sendmail/smtp

by replacing the value "mail" with what is specific for your server, either: sendmail or smtp. If you put smtp, your server may ask to put also at least:

1) var $smtp_host ="your smtp mail host", your smtp mail host is usually mail.yourdomain.com, but not always so need to check for that.

2) The $smtp_port, default is 25, we saw several accounts with value 26.

The best way to go about this is to ask your hosting provider for all the details or contact us if you want to install all for you.

Back to the List of Questions]

Question 21: Why do I get the message "This quiz is blocked" ?

The reason for this message is because you installed Optin Quiz Generator in a domain for which you did not insert the email address that was used during the purchase.

This can be solved easily. Just send an email to support@OptinQuizGenerator.com with the email you used when you purchased, your order ID and the email address you used when installing the quiz.

The email used in the installation process is the one used in the screen like the one below:

Question 23: How to add your autoresponder if it's not among the ones supported by the dashboard?

Currently we are supporting: AWeber, AutoResponse Plus, 1ShoppingCart, EmailAces, GetResponse, Infusion, Interspire SendStudio, Follow-Up Mailing List Processor.

In most of the case adding a new autoresponder doesn't require changes on the Quiz source code.

This section will show how to update the configuration file to support your autoresponder.

Step 1: Go to the folder where you have the quiz a the location: Your-Quiz-Folder/app/config

Step 2: Open the file config.php

Step 3: At the same time get a raw html copy of an optin form your autoresponder creates.

Step 4: Check for the variables use to get the name/email, see example :

<div id="af-form-817624295" class="af-form"><div id="af-header-817624295" class="af-header"><div class="bodyText"><p> </p></div></div>
<div id="af-body-817624295" class="af-body af-standards">
<div class="af-element">
<label class="previewLabel" for="awf_field-917507">Name: </label>
<div class="af-textWrap">
<input id="awf_field-917507" type="text" name="name" class="text" value="" />
</div>
<div class="af-clear"></div></div>
<div class="af-element">
<label class="previewLabel" for="awf_field-917509">Email: </label>
<div class="af-textWrap"><input class="text" id="awf_field-917509" type="text" name="email" value="" />
</div><div class="af-clear"></div>
</div>
<div class="af-element buttonContainer">
<input name="submit" class="submit" type="submit" value="Submit"/>
<div class="af-clear"></div>
</div>
<div class="af-element privacyPolicy" style="text-align: center"><p><a href="http://www.m57.com/permission.htm" target="_blank">We respect your email privacy</a></p>
<div class="af-clear"></div>
</div>
</div>
</form>

In the example above you I was looking to see what is used to store the name/email values in the autoresponder code.

I noticed that for name it uses name and for email it uses email. This is not always the case! In some cases it can be subscriber_name for name and subscriber_email for email.

Step 5: Now its necessary to add these values to the config file. Lets say that your autoresponder system is called M57.

You will need to add the following code in the config.php you opened at step 2:

$config['autoresponders']['M57']['name'] = "M57";
$config['autoresponders']['M57']['field_name'] = "name";
$config['autoresponders']['M57']['field_email'] = "email";

if for instance your autoresponder will use the values subscriber_name for name and subscriber_email for email then the code will look like:

$config['autoresponders']['M57']['name'] = "M57";
$config['autoresponders']['M57']['field_name'] = "subscriber_name";
$config['autoresponders']['M57']['field_email'] = "subscriber_email";

If after trying the above it doesn't work contact us and we have a look at it.

[Back to the List of Questions]

Question 24: Why am I not getting the analysis or the analysis comes without the first name?

There can be many reasons for this. The first I suggest to verify (which in a majority of cases was the problem) is to check if the autoresponder code and the value for your type of autoresponder codes in the quiz config file are the same.

Let's look at the following example and assume you have an autoresponder that is called Aweber and this is your autoresponder code:

<div id="af-form-817624295" class="af-form"><div id="af-header-817624295" class="af-header"><div class="bodyText"><p> </p></div></div>
<div id="af-body-817624295" class="af-body af-standards">
<div class="af-element">
<label class="previewLabel" for="awf_field-917507">Name: </label>
<div class="af-textWrap">
<input id="awf_field-917507" type="text" name="name" class="text" value="" />
</div>
<div class="af-clear"></div></div>
<div class="af-element">
<label class="previewLabel" for="awf_field-917509">Email: </label>
<div class="af-textWrap"><input class="text" id="awf_field-917509" type="text" name="email" value="" />
</div><div class="af-clear"></div>
</div>
<div class="af-element buttonContainer">
<input name="submit" class="submit" type="submit" value="Submit"/>
<div class="af-clear"></div>
</div>
<div class="af-element privacyPolicy" style="text-align: center"><p><a href="http://www.Aweber.com/permission.htm" target="_blank">We respect your email privacy</a></p>
<div class="af-clear"></div>
</div>
</div>
</form>

And in the file located on your server at:YourQuizFolder/app/config/config.php you noticed something like:

$config['autoresponders']['AWEBER']['name'] = "AWeber";
$config['autoresponders']['AWEBER']['field_name'] = "name";
$config['autoresponders']['AWEBER']['field_email'] = "from";

then the problem is the fact that Aweber has updated the format of their code. Here is what you need to do to correct this.

Step 1: Go to YourQuizFolder/app/config/config.php

Step 2: Change:

$config['autoresponders']['AWEBER']['name'] = "AWeber";
$config['autoresponders']['AWEBER']['field_name'] = "name";
$config['autoresponders']['AWEBER']['field_email'] = "from";

to

$config['autoresponders']['AWEBER']['name'] = "AWeber";
$config['autoresponders']['AWEBER']['field_name'] = "name";
$config['autoresponders']['AWEBER']['field_email'] = "email";

Step 3: Save the file config.php and you are done.

If after trying the above it doesn't work contact us and we have a look at it.

[Back to the List of Questions]

Question 25: Why some information are not stored when saving the quiz?

This can be noticed on certain hosting accounts.

The problem is 2 parameters to be updated on you server configuration file to allow the quiz to save larger chucks of data.

Here is what happens:

The browser sends the whole form (quiz parameters) via HTTP Post, but in your case some of the values are missing.

Most probably your current PHP installation cuts of only 200 variables in the POST.

Most probably your account has http://www.hardened-php.net project. This is a security patch that can be installed over PHP.

It has default variables:

suhosin.post.max_vars
suhosin.request.max_vars

that I presume are set to 200 (your values may vary but still a small number which makes the data to be lost).

They can be changed by simply adding these line the php.ini for you quiz:

suhosin.post.max_vars = 5000
suhosin.request.max_vars = 5000

If after trying the above it doesn't work contact us and we have a look at it.

Question 26: How do I get support from you?

In order for us to do remote support for you, here is what you need to do:

1. Download the following zip file: debugging.zip It contains

a. phpinfo.php
b. check-email-server.php

2. Upload these files to your web-server, in the root folder of the quiz

3. Go into the root of your quiz folder

http://www.YOURDOMAIN.com/YOUR-QUIZ-FOLDER/ and find the file: index.php

At line 16 you will find:

Question 27:Which folder shall I install Optin Quiz Generator in?

In the previous version of the quiz it was important where you install the quiz. In that version the name of the folder was the name of the quiz.

As of version 2.1, you can have more then one quizzes active from the same dashboard. Therefore the link of the quiz is different.

Let's say that you install the quiz in the quiz folder and you have a quiz called best-diet-quiz then the link to your quiz will look like:

http://www.myowndomain.com/quiz/index.php/best-diet-quiz

If you have another quiz called diet-questions, it will look like:

http://www.myowndomain.com/quiz/index.php/diet-questions

I know these are ugly links that is why we created the link beautifier option. You can read all about it here:

As far as where to install the quiz you have several options.

1) Install it in any folder of your domain, eg: quiz, survey whatever-name-you-want

Then the installation folder will be:

http://www.myowndomain.com/quiz

http://www.myowndomain.com/survey

http://www.myowndomain.com/whatever-name-you-want

2) You can install it in the root of your domain and then the installation will be:

http://www.myowndomain.com

and the quiz links from above will look like:

http://www.myowndomain.com/index.php/best-diet-quiz

http://www.myowndomain.com/index.php/diet-questions

3) You can also install it in a subdomain:

http://quiz.myowndomain.com

http://survey.myowndomain.com

http://whatever-name-you-want.myowndomain.com

and then the link to your quizzes will look like:

http://quiz.myowndomain.com/index.php/best-diet-quiz

http://quiz.myowndomain.com/index.php/diet-questions

Note that you do NOT have to install the quiz in subdomain if you want to have the link of a subdomain pointing to the quiz. See the Link Beautifier features for more details.

Additional tips:

Most people asked about installing the quiz in one domain and then creating several different quizzes which are not related with one another. They want to manage them all from the same dashboard.

That is possible.

Just install the quiz in whatever domain/folder you want and then use the Link Beautifier instructions to create the type of link that looks nice and you can give to your prospects.

Question 28: How can I remove index.php from the URL?

Let's say you have a quiz installed in the quiz folder of your domain and the quiz link looks like:

http://www.myowndomain.com/quiz/index.php/best-diet-quiz

If you want to remove the index.php from the link so your link will look like:

http://www.myowndomain.com/quiz/best-diet-quiz

OR

http://www.myowndomain.com/quiz/best-diet-quiz.html

here is what you need to do:

1) Create a file called .htaccess and place it in the root folder of your quiz:

<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
DirectoryIndex index.php
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond $1 !^(index\.php|images|css|js|robots\.txt|favicon\.ico)
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ ./index.php/$1 [L,QSA]
</IfModule>

<IfModule !mod_rewrite.c>
ErrorDocument 404 "<html><head><title>mod_rewrite is not enabled</title></head><body><h2><tt>The mod_rewrite Apache extension is not enabled, please contact your hosting provider</tt></h2></body></html>
</IfModule>

Important note: In order for this file to be readable you need to ensure that the mod_rewrite Apache extension enabled. If not you will get an error message.

2) Go to the folder where you installed the quiz sub folder app/config/config.php and

change the line:

$config['index_page'] = "index.php";

into:

$config['index_page'] = "";

3) Optional for advanced users you can change:

$config['url_suffix'] = ""; with any extension that you like

eg.

$config['url_suffix'] = "html";

and then your like will look like:

http://www.myowndomain.com/quiz/best-diet-quiz.html

Question 29: Does Optin Quiz Generator have a hosted solution?

No. The application is self hosted on your own server, because in that way you have 100% control over the data. In case you really want to use a hosted solution here is a list of very powerful quiz and survey software.

Before you visit their site is good to know that their main focus is on survey and quizzes and do not have the powerful analysis features, list segmenting and free viral traffic and leads getting mechanisms Optin Quiz Generator has.

To my knowledge the psychic quiz is also unique on the internet and can only be found in Optin Quiz Generator.

With that being said here are a few links worth checking:

Also they are all on monthly fee. Once you check them you can decide for yourself what the best option is. I am offering you Optin Quiz Generator FREE and Optin Quiz Generator Pro (at a modest one time FEE)

Question 30: How can I point all the quizzes in the dashboard only towards ONE autoresponder email list?

When you create several quizzes, you may need to create several autoresponder codes. That is useful, but sometimes can be annoying.

The reason why you need to create several autoresponder list because each list has a different thank you page and confirmed page.

If you need segmentation in that many lists that is great, however you can also put your leads in ONLY one list and use the answer code.

In this section I will tell you what problems autoresponders have and how you can solve it.

First each autoresponder list need a thank you page.  If you have server quizzes in the dashboard you need to put each TYO link in your autoresponder.  It's the same for the confirmation page as well as for the onlist page:

So as you have:

http://YOUR-DOMAIN.com/quiz/index.php/1/thankyou

http://YOUR-DOMAIN.com/quiz/index.php/2/thankyou

http://YOUR-DOMAIN.com/quiz/index.php/3/thankyou

as well as

http://YOUR-DOMAIN.com/quiz/index.php/1/confirmed

http://YOUR-DOMAIN.com/quiz/index.php/2/confirmed

http://YOUR-DOMAIN.com/quiz/index.php/3/confirmed

and:

http://YOUR-DOMAIN.com/quiz/index.php/1/confirmed/onlist

http://YOUR-DOMAIN.com/quiz/index.php/2/confirmed/onlist

http://YOUR-DOMAIN.com/quiz/index.php/3/confirmed/onlist

In order to just put ONLY ONE link in all the lists you may have in your autoresponder, we created a file called one-list-redirect.php

That file can be in the root folder, or anywhere else you thing is necessary to have it

That file will be used as:

When I go into my autoresponder instead of putting the following:

http://YOUR-DOMAIN.com/quiz/index.php/1/thankyou

http://YOUR-DOMAIN.com/quiz/index.php/1/confirmed

http://YOUR-DOMAIN.com/quiz/index.php/1/confirmed/onlist

You will put

http://YOUR-DOMAIN.com/quiz/index.php/one-list-redirect.php?type=tyo&quiz-id={custom quiz id}

http://YOUR-DOMAIN.com/quiz/index.php/one-list-redirect.php?type=confirm&quiz-id={custom quiz id}

http://YOUR-DOMAIN.com/quiz/index.php/one-list-redirect.php?type=onlist&quiz-id={custom quiz id}

Aweber will take that and make

http://YOUR-DOMAIN.com/quiz/index.php/one-list-redirect.php?type=tyo&quiz-id=1

http://YOUR-DOMAIN.com/quiz/index.php/one-list-redirect.php?type=confirm&quiz-id=1

http://YOUR-DOMAIN.com/quiz/index.php/one-list-redirect.php?type=onlist&quiz-id=1

where actually the number quiz id will be transferred from the form itself. You don't need to worry about this.

Now…

The file: one-list-redirect.php will need to redirect the visitors to the appropriate file depending on the quiz-id and type of page.

So in the above example: will become:

http://YOUR-DOMAIN.com/quiz/index.php/1/thankyou

http://YOUR-DOMAIN.com/quiz/index.php/1/confirmed

http://YOUR-DOMAIN.com/quiz/index.php/1/confirmed/onlist

if the quiz-id will be 2 then:

http://YOUR-DOMAIN.com/quiz/index.php/2/thankyou

http://YOUR-DOMAIN.com/quiz/index.php/2/confirmed

http://YOUR-DOMAIN.com/quiz/index.php/2/confirmed/onlist

The biggest advantage is that you can create as many quizzes as you want in one dashboard and have only one autoresponder list.

The autoresponder form will just have one custom tag called quiz id which you will be creating that manually insert it: 1, 3, 43, etc.

The number quiz id is a number corresponding to a quiz from the dashboard.

Two more advanced feature of this file:

1) Be able to also get the URL, so the link will look like:

http://YOUR-DOMAIN.com/quiz/index.php/one-list-redirect.php?type=tyo&quiz-id=1&quiz-url=http://optinquizgenerator.com/quiz

and then the one-list-redirect.php will redirect to:

http://optinquizgenerator.com/quiz/index.php/1/thankyou

2) It works with iFrame

For iframe the problem is we don't know the file name or whether is enabled, so 2 more variables will be used, see below

To summarize the whole thing, about: one-list-redirect.php

1) It will read out a variable called type, which will be either tyo, confirmed, onlist

2) It will read out a variable called quiz-id which will be the number of the quiz

3) It will read out a variable called quiz-url which will be the base URL of the quiz

4) It will read out a variable called iframe-mode which can be yes/no

5) It will readout a variable called iframe-file which will be the path to the iframe file

The syntax is like this:

one-list-redirect.php?type=[tyo/confirmed/onlist]&quiz-id=1&quiz-url=http://optinquizgenerator.com/quiz&quiz-url=eventuall-a-quiz-from-a-totally-different-URL&iframe-mode=[yes/no]&iframe-file=the-html-file-where-your-quiz-is-runing.html

example:

http://www.optinquizgenerator.com/quiz-demo/one-list-redirect.php&type=tyo&quiz-id=17&url=http://informationmarketingtrends.com/quiz

http://www.optinquizgenerator.com/quiz-demo/one-list-redirect.php&type=tyo&quiz-id=17&url=http://informationmarketingtrends.com/quiz&iframe-mode=yes&iframe-file=test.hml

NOTE:

1. This file will not be confirmed from the quiz dashboard.

2. The variables I mentioned above are not ALL mandatory

3. If some of the variables are either wrong, or not present, the redirect will take into consideration only the ones that you put.  So you need to ensure the values you need are there and also correct.

Basically this file is to help you in case you don't want to create more forms from the same dashboard and don't want to create several lists.

Question 31: What email server do I have?

In order to see what email server you have, we have prepared in debugging.zip a file called check-email-server.php

Here is what you need to do:

1) Go to your quiz installation folder something like: http://www.YouDomain.com/quiz/check-email-server.php and you will see a screen as in the picture below:

Page Title

2) Put an email address where you will be receiving the test email

3) Try all the three options there, in that order, mail, sendmail, smtp

(!!! Only one at the time!!!)

Note that for sendmail you need to know its path.  For SMTP you need to know the credentials your SMTP email account has on that server.

All this information were given to you when you open the hosting account.

4) Hit "Send" for the type of email server you chose at step 3.

5) See the result.

If you see any kind of error, then just hit back in your browser and go back to step 3 above and try the next email server.

If all is well you will see a message:  "Email sent..."  you should have also received a message to the email address you provided.

IMPORTANT !

After you find out what email server you have, and all works well, for security reasons it's highly recommended to delete the following file from your server:

check-email-server.php

Question 32: How is your affiliate program working?

The affiliate program for Optin Quiz Generator has two major way of using it:

1) The affiliate link in the dashboard

2) The affiliate links you can put in email, blogs, etc.

There is a difference between how to use them.  The second one it's straight forward.   You just use the link given to you by Plimus.

For the second one you need use the link given to you here in this section of the site (http://www.optinquizgenerator.com/join).  It's the one with the name: "Affiliate link for the quiz dashboard"

All the links are generated for you in the affiliates section, just sign up here:

http://www.optinquizgenerator.com/join

A few more answers about the affiliate program:

  1. The payment is sent to you by Plimus, once a month

  2. If you sent a client to the optin quiz generator pro version and if the person buys within a period of 6 Months (and does not delete the cookies) you get credit for the sales

  3. Optin Quiz Generator has one major version PRO which sells for 197$. You get 100$ for each sale. At times I makes special promotions, with different prices and packages. If the lead you sent to the pro version does NOT buy the PRO version but buys the special promotions you also get credited 50% of that sale. The value depends on may factors, so I cannot tell you a fix price, just to let you know that you get credit for that sale.

Question 33: Do you have the skills to install the quiz yourself?

If you want to install the quiz yourself because you think of using the application on many domains, I would like to suggest you read this post as to see what the faster way to do it is.

In order to do the installation you need to have the following skills:

  • Be able to create a database
  • Be able to know what email server your hosting has
  • Know how to use a FTP client

If all goes well, this is all that you need.  If there are problems, you may need additional skills.

What problems you may encounter?

  1. The email server on your hosting account is not a standard Mail, SMTP, sendmail
  1. Certain files are now in read/write mode in your hosting account
  1. URI protocol is not standard

The list can go on and on and on.  We have address them ALL these in this FAQ page.

The question is if you are able to use this information, and if you are not from experience I can propose you a very good solution.

The usual way is that people send us email, and we guide you along the way.  I have observed this can get sometimes frustrating and it can take time.

Because we don't have access to your server we need to work in the dark, proposing you to change things and then we look in the logs to see the result. If that did not work we need to propose something else.

Even though this is a good solution and we are very happy to give you all the support you need I would like to propose to you something else.

  1. Star doing the installation yourself
  1. If you encounter problems, send us an email and we help you out debugging it
  1. If after 3 exchange of emails we have not debugged the problem, here is what you can do:
    1. You pay us the installation service offered here: Click To See

    2. We do the installation AND provide you with a document detailing the exact steps and specific settings you need for your server to work properly with Optin Quiz Generator.

    3. In the future if you need to install it again and again on other domains, you can be 100% sure you know exactly what you need to do and be sure it works.  And you are now 100% independent of our service of installation

Let me state something very clearly:

This proposal is not mandatory!

You are entitled to support and you will get it.  From the experience we have noticed it's faster, cheaper and less frustrating if we take this approach.

Leave all the technical details to us for the first installation, then you can do it yourself using our detail description which is 100% fine-tuned to your server.

Why did we not write all this here so you can follow the step by step plan?

As you can see in the installation page there is a very detailed description on what needs to be done … BUT we simply could not predict any hosting configuration on the face of the earth, there are hundreds and hundreds.

This solution is to help you out and get everything set up faster.  It's also cheaper as paying us once to really figure out your server will allow you to save time and save money.

Knowing that if you want to install it yourself in the future you are sure it works.

Question 35: What does total coverage support actually mean?

In my marketing material I refer that you are entitled to get free total coverage support. As the term can create some confusion I decide to write a more detailed explanation here.

Optin Quiz Generator is a software that runs on your hosting server. The software allows you to create quiz landing pages. It has some code that it generates itself and other html, js, php that you can insert in the quiz code.

The total coverage support refer to the fact that if something goes wrong with the Optin Quiz Generator software itself due to your hosting account or due to the code that you put inside we will fix the software for you.

To be very precise we will fix Optin Quiz Generator to be working again and NOT your entire hosting account and NOT the htm, php, js code that you can insert in Optin Quiz Generator.

I consider necessary to make this clarification as some people asked questions about the HTML/PHP code they put inside the quiz software. We do not offer support, teaching or education on how to write HTML, PHP or JS code.

We do offer a service in which we can create the code 100% for you and then we are responsible for it to work correctly, click here to see more: www.optinquizgenerator.com/services

Let me clearly state that you do NOT have to take this services.

Most people can do very well with the easy build in interface as well as with the template with provide. Just in case you need some more fancy stuff here is what we can do for you:
