Quiz Scoring

This page talks about how to use the scoring features in Optin Quiz Generator.

The scoring logic

Before setting up the scoring is important to know the logic on how it works.

Each question can have one or more answers. Without scoring when a prospect of yours chooses certain answers from the quiz landing page, an analysis is being sent to his/her email address. That analysis is based simply on the choice of the answers.

In the case of scoring, you can assign points to each answer. You can also select several score intervals. When a quiz taker selects answers from the quiz landing page, the software counts the number of points based on the answers selected by the quiz taker. It then sends the analysis corresponding to the point interval where the total number of points fit into.

Here is the flow your website visitors will experience

Let's say that we have a quiz with two questions

  1. Question 1
    • Answer 1 (1 points)
    • Answer 2 (5 points)
    • Answer 3 (2 points)
  2. Question 1
    • Answer 1 (3 points)
    • Answer 2 (1 point)
    • Answer 3 (10 points)

Based on the points given, you will then select intervals with the range [ 2 - 15 ]. The minimum is 2 because that is the minimum number of points a quiz taker can get, by selecting at least one answer from each question. And 15 is the maximum.

To keep it simple in this example I select only 3 intervals:

  • [ 2 - 5 ] with text Analysis 1
  • [ 6 - 14 ] with text Analysis 2
  • [ 15 - 15 ] with text Analysis 3

Then if the quiz take, let's say chose question 1 - answer 2 and question 2 - answer 3, that will be 5 + 10 = 15 so will receive the analysis 3.

If the quiz taker selects question 1 - answer 1, question 2 - answer 3 that will be 1 + 10 = 11, and will therefore receive analysis 2.

How to configure that?

The steps below shows how to configure that in the dashboard.

1 - Step One: How to enable scoring?

It's good to know that scoring is not enabled by default. You need to go in the dashboard in the section Extra Features and select Quiz Scoring.

Enable scoring

Use the checkbox as shown in the picture below:

2 - Step Two: Assign points to each answer

In the same section give points numbers to each answer.

3 - Step Three: Add ranges

Now it's time to create ranges for the answers so click the link: "Add new range"

And that allows to input the analysis for each range created:

It's important to observe at the analysis 3 (as example), I chose to use the Add/Remove Editor function to create the analysis in HTML.

4 - Step Four: Display scoring

One last thing (optional) that you can decide is if you will like for each question to display the number of points the quiz taker got as well as the total number of points. It will look something like:

Page Title

And you enable this by ticking the check box as shown below:

Page Title

Without this it will display only the total number of points and the corresponding analysis.
