The necessary elements to set

In order to be able to use the quiz there are a minimum of elements that must be set first. See below first the list of mandatory elements, then you can find a step-by-step instruction on how to set that up.

The mandatory elements for a quiz to work properly are:

  • At least one quiz question+ at least one answer +at least one analysis for that answer.
  • The auto responder code.
  • The URL is present in Step 5.3. of the quiz dashboard

Just setting these mandatory elements will allow you to save and activate the quiz and even use it (in a very basic format). However we suggest you set a few more elements for the quiz to look ok:

  1. Chose the name of the quiz, found in section 1.2 "Quiz name in url" (by default: quiz id)
  2. Create Quiz Questions/Answers/Interpretations, found in dashboard at Step 2.3 Quiz Questions
  3. Create the TYO page, found in the dashboard at Step 3.1 Auto Responder Setup
  4. Decide how OQG will deliver the analysis, found in dashboard at Step 3.3 Quiz Analysis Options
  5. Set the Confirmation Page, found in dashboard at Step 3.3 Quiz Analysis Options
  6. Place your autoresponder code into OQG, found in dashboard at Step 3.1 Auto Responder Setup
  7. Configure the email settings in OQG, found in dashboard at Step 3.2 Quiz Analysis Email
  8. Save your Quiz configuration

Important: It is mandatory you set these values before doing any other work on the quiz as without them the admin dashboard does NOT allow you to move further, nor to save the quiz !

1 - Step One: How to setup the quiz name?

Go to "Step 1.2 Text Personalization" The quiz folder is where the dashboard resides and no active quiz will be there.

So if you install the sources in the folder quiz, you will have the dashboard in www.OptinQuizGenerator.com/quiz/index.php/admin.

NOTE: Nothing will be active in the folder www.OptinQuizGenerator.com/quiz, but all the quizzes will be in the folder corresponding to it's name.

Eg. Let's say you created 3 quizzes then they will be accessible as:

  • www.OptinQuizGenerator.com/quiz/second-one
  • www.OptinQuizGenerator.com/quiz/third-one

where the values: first-one, second-one, third-one, etc are the name you will set in the dashboard. You can chose any name you like. By default a number is placed there.

So it will look something like:

  • etc.

That is the URL that you will be sending to your prospects.

Chose the Quiz' Name

This will be the name of your quiz, as well as the page "Title Tag" that displays in the upper left-hand corner of your web browser when the quiz landing page loads.

You have complete control over formatting of individual analysis by clicking on the "Add/Remove Editor" link which will bring up the WYSIWYG editor. Finally, you can force the display order of each question using the drop down selector.

You can also select the type of answer your quiz will display, using the option "Select Type". There are 4 types to chose from:

  • Radio Button Only: That means there will be a simple check box on the right side of your answer.

3 - Step Three: Chose the TYO page

The TYO Page is the page your website visitors will see after they have filled in their name and email.

You need to go to "Step 3.1 Auto Responder Setup" and it marked as "Redirect page"

You must set your autoresponder to redirect back to this page after the quiz-taker completes the initial opt-in. You can set the Page Title to appear in the browser, as well as any text you'd like displayed.

Tip: In double-optin mode, this is a great place to tell the quiz-taker to go check their email inbox for the confirmation email.

The URL for this page, which you'll need for your auto responder list configuration, is as follows:

http://www.yourdomain.com/index.php/quiz-name/thankyou

...or...

http://www.yourdomain.com/quiz/index.php/quiz-name/thankyou

where quiz represents the folder on your server that you may have installed the script in. It is mandatory you set this as proposed because the quiz generation and delivery is done by this page.

Note: The exact link for your quiz is auto-generated. Just copy/paste the URL as indicated in the dashboard.

Redirect Page

4 - Step Four: Quiz Analysis Delivery Options

Go to the admin dashboard to "Step 3.3 Quiz Analysis Options" The setting gives you three options for providing the quiz-taker with their analysis:

  • Send via email only: for this case chose this option.
  • Display in browser only
  • Send via email AND display in browser
  • No analysis

5 - Step Five: Chose the Confirmation Page

Go to the OQG Admin Dashboard to "Step 3.3 Quiz Analysis Options". This setting needs to be configured ONLY if you select "Send via email only" in the Quiz Analysis Delivery Options. If so, you can set the Page Title and the text to display on this page.

This page loads as a redirect from your auto responder AFTER the quiz-taker has confirmed their opt-in, to be precise they will be redirected to this page when your website visitor clicked the link in the confirmation email sent by your autoresponder.

The URL for this page, which you'll need for your auto responder list configuration, is as follows:

http://www.yourdomain.com/index.php/quiz-name/confirmed

...or...

http://www.yourdomain.com/quiz/index.php/quiz-name/confirmed

where quiz represents the subdirectory you may have installed the script in.

Note: The exact link for your quiz is auto-generated. Just copy/paste the URL as indicated in the dashboard.

Confirmed Page

At this stage you have two option to select from. If you click Viral Friend Page as above then the quiz will automatically take your website visitors to the Viral Friend Page.

You will see later on how to set your Viral Page Generator page. For the moment just decide if you want to have your visitors redirected to it.

A question that came over again is: "Shall I sent my website visitors to a Viral Page or to a Simple Page?"

The answer is very simple: "e;It really depends on what you want to achieve with your quiz at that particular stage of your business."e;

Let me explain that a bit ... if you purpose is to gather leads and get as many subscribers to your list, then it is a good option to send your website visitor to a Viral Page and have them recommend your quiz to all their friends and interested people.

If your purpose is to focus on making sales then redirecting your visitors to a Simple Page (which actually can be a sell copy page) is the best choice.

When you select Simple Page, your website visitors will be redirected to a Simple Page which you will create in OQG Admin Dashboard.

Confirmed Page - Simpl

If you selected Simple Page, you can create, using the simple WYSIWYG editor like you will do in MS Word, the layout of page where your visitors will be redirected immediately after confirming the email. All MS Word like editors in OQG Admin Dashboard actually can be switched to a HTML mode (by clicking the blue HTML word) and then you just copy/past the whole html code in there and you have your fancy page done.

6 - Step Six: Set the autoresponder code from your system in OQG

Currently we are supporting the following autoresponders: AWeber, GetResponse, 1ShoppingCart, Infusion, EmailAces, AutoResponse Plus, Interspire SendStudio. Depending on which kind of autoresponder you own we have created an easy to use installation manual for the most popular systems. The other ones use the same mechanisms. Use the links below to configure yours:

Place your autoresponder code from your system into OQG

7 - Step Seven: Configure the email settings in OQG

This sections gives you all the details on how to configure the email functionality of the OQG. Go in your quiz dashboard at "Step 1.3 Email Personalization" and follow the instruction below:

Email Settings

You have the choice of sending the quiz/survey analysis as text or html email, by using the options in the drop-down menu, next to "Email type".

Email Settings

Configure the Email From, Email Subject, and From/Reply Email Address settings. These settings are for the email that will be sent from YOUR server for the quiz-taker's analysis.

Email Settings

Optionally, you can configure the BCC Email Address if you would like to receive a copy of each quiz-taker's analysis email.

Email Introduction Text and Email Footer Text

Go to the dashboard in section 3.2 Quiz analysis. There you can set the value which are going to be used in the analysis creation. Then you can set the analysis values:

  • Text for: Question Nr. (used in the analysis): The value that will appear before the question.
  • Text for: Your Answer (used in the analysis): The value that will appear before the answer.
  • Dear {first_name}: The salutation message sent with the analysis.
  • Text for: Your Analysis (used in the analysis): The text appearing before the analysis
  • Intro: The introduction text that is in the analysis, or email
  • Footer: The text which is after the complete analysis.

So, your concern is to create the Email Introduction Text and the Email Footer Text, the rest is done by OQG:

Email Introduction and Footer Text

8 - Step Eight: Save your Quiz core elements

Use the buttons below depending of your desired choice

Email Footer Text

If the Checkbox "Validate quiz completeness before saving" is ticked then the mandatory elements for a quiz to work properly will be checked, before saving. If they are missing or wrongly set, an error message will signal that. As a reminder the mandatory elements for a quiz to work properly are:

  • At least one quiz question+ at least one answer +at least one analysis for that answer.
  • The auto responder code.
  • The URL is present in Step 5.3. of the quiz dashboard

If you don't want to use the validation check simply leave the box un-ticked and the system will allow you to save your work without any checks.
