Here is the text explaining the flow your website visitors will experience
The visitors will experience the following flow:
- They will get to your quiz page and take the quiz.
- On the next page they will be promoted to insert their name/email and then get to your TYO page you set in the optin quiz generator admin dashboard
- Your autoresponder will send them an email to confirm their address
- When the visitor confirms by clicking on the confirmation link they are automatically redirected to the "Confirmation Page" you also set in OQG Admin Dashboard, then after a number of seconds you selected directly to URL of your choice.

Go in the OQG Admin Dashboard to "Step 1.1 Quiz Sinks". You can choose the "Classic" quiz skin, or from among a host of colorful quiz skins. You even have the option of creating your own custom skin and selecting it here.
Type of skins
From the image above you can see that you can chose between the default skins or your custom skin.
For how to use the custom, in the quiz application there is a folder [quiz_folder]/web/images/themes/custom. There you can place the pictures and the CSS files of your site theme. And then from the Step 1.1 Quiz Skin you chose Custom.
You need to adjust your CSS files for the quiz to fit well! That means just putting your files there will not be sufficient. You may need to know some basic CSS to align the page.
Default skin details
Below is one of the pre-defined themes and its parts:
The parts are:
(1) Header graphic overlay text
(2) Headline
(3) Sub-Headline
(4) Quiz questions and answers area
(5) Footer text
(6) Footer graphic overlay text
2 - Step Two: Format the text styles
Quiz Landing Page: Font/Color/Size Options
Customize the actual font, font color and font size for the questions and answers that appear on the main quiz landing page.
Analysis Results: Font/Color/Size Options
3 - Step Three: Chose quiz name
Go to the section: "Step 2.1 Search Engine Optimization" subsection "Page Title and description". This will be the name of your quiz, as well as the page "Title Tag" that displays in the upper left-hand corner of your web browser when the quiz landing page loads.
4 - Step Four: Set the SEO options
On the same section 2.1 there is a area "Page description". This is the text that search engines display for organic search results. Keep it as keyword-rich as possible! Shows as part of the page's "Description Tag".
Page Keywords
The keywords you enter here show in the keywords tag of the quiz landing page.
5 - Step Five: Write the quiz footer
In the same section of the dashboard you can set the global footer, which is displayed at bottom throughout the quiz process. It is recommended that the text be centered for display.
6 - Step Six: Write quiz landing page headline and sub-headline
Main Headline
Go to "Step 2.2 Quiz Headline and Sub headline". This is your quiz's main headline used to grab the prospect's attention and persuade them to take your quiz. If you use the WYSIWYG editor's "format" drop-down and select Headline 1, your headline will be placed between <H1> Tags. This is very beneficial for search engine optimization.
Rather than using text, you can optionally insert your headline as a graphical image using the "image" button on the WYSIWYG editor, or any html code.
Subheadline
This displays below the main headline. It's your last chance to convince the prospect to complete the quiz. If you use the WYSIWYG editor's "format" drop-down and select Headline 2, your subheadline will be placed between <H2> Tags. This is also very beneficial for search engine optimization.
7 - Step Seven: Insert questions/answers/interpretations
Go to the "Step 2: Quiz Landing Page Configuration" of your OQG admin dashboard. Then under "Step 2.3 Quiz Questions", you can find the section "Add Questions" there is where you insert the quiz questions, answers and interpretations.
Create Quiz Questions/Answers/Interpretations
Click the Add Question button to create your first question.
Question, Answers, and Analysis
For each question: you'll enter the question text, multiple answers, and analysis for each answer. The analysis is what will be displayed to the quiz taker if they select that particular answer for the question.
You have complete control over formatting of individual analysis by clicking on the "Add/Remove Editor" link which will bring up the WYSIWYG editor. Finally, you can force the display order of each question using the drop down selector.
You can also select the type of answer your quiz will display, using the option "Select Type". There are three types to chose from:
- Radio Button Only: That means there will be a simple check box on the right side of your answer.
- Textbox Only: That means there will only be an input textbox for that answer.
- Radio Button w/ Textbox: That means the answer will have both a check box and an input box.
Check What is A Quiz Landing Page? and What is A Survey Landing Page? to see what output these can create. For a complete list of options see section below:
8 - Step Eight: Set the autoresponder settings
Currently we are supporting the following autoresponders: AWeber, GetResponse, 1ShoppingCart, Infusion, EmailAces, AutoResponse Plus, Interspire SendStudio. Depending on which kind of autoresponder you have we have created an easy to use installation manual for the most popular systems. The other ones use the same mechanisms. Use the links below to configure yours:
Place your autoresponder code from your system into OQG
9 - Step Nine: Set quiz delivery option as email
This setting gives you three options for providing the quiz-taker with their analysis:
- Send via email only: (for this example chose this one)
- Display in browser only
- Send via email AND display in browser
10 - Step Ten: Set the quiz email settings
You have the choice of sending text or html email, but using the options in the drop-down menu, next to "Email type".
Configure the Email From, Email Subject, and From/Reply Email Address settings. These settings are for the email that will be sent from YOUR server for the quiz-taker's analysis.
Optionally, you can configure the BCC Email Address if you would like to receive a copy of each quiz-taker's analysis email.
Email Introduction Text
The script automatically will insert the following salutation prior to this text, and the entire email structure will look like this:
And here are the settings in the dashboard:
11 - Step Eleven: Chose the simple confirmation page
Step 11.1 : Chose the TYO
Go to the OQG Admin Dashboard to "Step 3.1 Auto Responder Setup" to make the following selections. The TYO Page is the page your website visitors will see after they have filled in their name and email.
You must set your autoresponder to redirect back to this page after the quiz-taker completes the initial opt-in. You can set the Page Title to appear in the browser, as well as any text you'd like displayed.
Tip: In double-optin mode, this is a great place to tell the quiz-taker to go check their email inbox for the confirmation email.
The URL for this page, which you'll need for your auto responder list configuration, is as follows:
http://www.yourdomain.com/index.php/thankyou
...or...
http://www.yourdomain.com/quiz/index.php/thankyou
where quiz represents the folder on your server that you may have installed the script in. It is mandatory you set this as proposed because the quiz generation and delivery is done by this page.
Step 11.2 : Chose the simple confirmation page
Go to the OQG Admin Dashboard to "Step 3.3 Quiz Analysis Options" to configure the confirmation page. This setting needs to be configured ONLY if you select "Send via email only" in the Quiz Analysis Delivery Options. If so, you can set the Page Title and the text to display on this page. This page loads as a redirect from your auto responder AFTER the quiz-taker has confirmed their opt-in, to be precise they will be redirected to this page when they click the link in the confirmation email sent by your autoresponder.
The URL for this page, which you'll need for your auto responder list configuration, is as follows:
http://www.yourdomain.com/index.php/quiz-name/confirmed
...or...
http://www.yourdomain.com/quiz/index.php/quiz-name/confirmed
where quiz represents the subdirectory you may have installed the script in.
Actually at this stage you have two major option to select from. If you click Viral Friend Page as above then the quiz will automatically take your website visitors to the Viral Friend Page. You will late on how to set your Viral Page Generator page. For the moment just decide if you want to have your visitors redirected to it.
A question that came over again is: "Shall I sent my website visitors to a Viral Page or to a Simple Page?"
The answer is very simple: "It really depends on what you want to achieve with your quiz at that particular stage of your business."
Let me explain that a bit... if you purpose is to gather leads and get as many subscribers to your list, then it is a good option to send your website visitor to a Viral Page and have them recommend your quiz to all friends and interested people.
If you purpose is to focus on making sales then redirecting your visitors to a Simple Page (which actually can be a sell copy page) is the best choice.
When you select Simple Page, your website visitors will be redirected to a Simple Page you will create in OQG Admin Dashboard.
If you selected Simple Page, you can create, using the simple WYSIWYG editor like you will do in MS Word, the layout of page where your visitors will be redirected immediately after confirming the email. All MS Word like editors in OQG Admin Dashboard actually can be switched to a HTML mode (by clicking the blue HTML word) and then you just copy/past the whole html code in there and you have your fancy page done.
12 - Step Twelve: Chose the URL redirect settings
At the completion of the quiz process, you can configure the script to automatically redirect the quiz-taker to a specific URL,(e.g. the Tweet My Quiz URL, your sales letter, or any URL you wish) just write that URL in the box as shown below. You can find that under "Step 3.3 Quiz Analysis Options"
This setting is ONLY for those who select "Send via email only" in the Quiz Analysis Delivery Options. You can also set the time in seconds, between 1-30, when the page will auto redirect after reaching the OQG confirmation page.
13 - Step Thirteen: Save configuration
Using the button "Save" the information of your quiz will then be saved in the database and you can work further in your current session. If you use Save and Return to Admin Main" the data will be saved and you will return to the main dashboard. If you push "Cancel" nothing will be saved!
If the Checkbox "Validate quiz completeness before saving" is ticked then the mandatory elements for a quiz to work properly will be checked, before saving. If they are missing or wrongly set, an error message will signal that. As a reminder the mandatory elements for a quiz to work properly are:
- At least one quiz question+ at least one answer +at least one analysis for that answer.
- The auto responder code.
- The URL is present in Step 5.3. of the quiz dashboard
If you don't want to use the validation check simply leave the box un-ticked and the system will allow you to save your work without any checks.
Questions
The following section is a collection of the questions that clarifies how this scenario is influenced if in the quiz dashboard you select different optin settings: No optin, single optin, double optin. As well as for each what happens if you decide to display the quiz analysis in the browser.
What happens if I chose No Optin?
If you chose No Optin your quiz takers will not be required to put their name and email and the optin quiz generator will automatically taken them from the Quiz Landing page to the Thank you page and then immediately to the simple confirmation page, then they will be redirected (after a number of seconds that you chose) to a URL of your choice.
What happens if I chose the quiz delivery as “Display in browser only”?
If you chose “Display in browser only” the quiz analysis will be shown to the people in the browser and actually for this setting you can only show the analysis in the browser as no email is kept. You will however get a copy of the analysis if you placed an email address in the text box below “No Optin” section.
Why would I choose this no optin setting?
- It is useful to choose no optin when for instance sent you’re the people that are already on your mailing list and you don’t want them to insert again their name and email
- For quick and fast testing. You may also want to use no optin if you just want to test how your quiz looks like and you did not yet set your autoresponder to interact with it.
- Anonymous market research. If you simply just want to get lots of input about a specific issue while providing people a analysis of their chose without asking for name and email.
What happens If I chose Single Optin?
If you chose Single optin your quiz takers will be required to insert their name and email on the second page but they will not need to confirm it.
Optin Quiz Generator notices this sequence and will take the quiz takers from the landing page to the optin form page then to the thank you page and automatically (1-2 seconds) will forward them to the simple confirmation page and then to the URL of your choice.
What happens if I chose the quiz delivery as “Display in browser only”?
In that case an email with the analysis will not be sent to the quiz takers and the will see it in the browser.
Why would I choose this Single Optin setting?
- If you don’t want that people confirm their email address in your autoresponder and still want to give them the analysis then this option does that.
- If you intent to create a list of potential clients, survey they feedback and only later perform double option when you have specific targeted products for them, than using at this stage single optin is a good choice.
- You want to get lots of market research fast but still build a list of leads.
What happens If I chose Double Optin?
If you chose double optin, people will need to confirm their email before getting the quiz analysis. The system will take them from the landing page, to the optin form page, to the thank you page then when confirming their email address will be redirected to the confirmation page and in the same time receive the quiz analysis.
What happens if I chose the quiz delivery as “Display in browser only” ?
In that case an email with the analysis will not be sent to the quiz takers and the will see it in the browser
Why would I choose this Double Optin setting?
- To get leads of the highest possible quality, by confirming the email address you are certain they want to get your information.
- To get less SPAM complains
- Ensure higher deliver rates on your further follow-up emails, after the analysis has been sent
What happens If people are on my list?
In this scenario if people are on your list, they will see the message you created on the on list page.
